The Three Spiritual Festivals of 2021

The Three Spiritual Festivals of 2021

Meditation at the Equinox & Full Moon of 2021

Human cultures and civilizations across our globe have been living and observing the lunar cycles for centuries, farmers planting their seeds and their harvests with the movement of the Moon and Sun and the planets and stars. Many religious festivals are fixed by reference to the Moon and Sun and the various zodiacal constellations. The most prominent Christian celebration of Easter is determined by the first Sunday after the Full Moon of the Equinox, when the Sun enters zodiacal Aries.

Specifically, Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday following the full Moon that occurs on or just after the spring equinox. This year 2021, the Spring Equinox happens on Saturday, March 20. The first full Moon to occur after that date rises on Sunday, March 28; therefore, Easter is celebrated on the following Sunday which falls on April 4, 2021. The official end of Lent is on Saturday, April 3, 2021, the day before Easter Sunday. There’s an entire list of events leading up to the finale that’s called Holy Week. Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday on 28 March and ends on Easter Day, the day of Resurrection. According to the Gospels, Jesus was put to death on the Friday before Easter Day and was resurrected on the third day, celebrated as Easter Sunday.

Easter, also called Pascha (Aramaic, Greek, Latin) or Resurrection Sunday, is a Christian festival and holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day after his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD. Lent is the period of 40 days during which Christians remember the events leading up to and including the death of Jesus Christ, whose life and teachings are the foundation of Christianity.

The Aries Full Moon is dedicated to Christ, the Founder of Christianity, to the risen Christ and it is also called the Festival of Resurrection. Resurrection is the deepest teaching of that great Teacher and Healer given to the world. The Path of Resurrection is the process of building bridges between states of consciousness that lead to oneness with the Lord. Resurrection is a gradual fusion with a higher level of existence defined by Christ consciousness, which is the consciousness of love. Christ is the Soul of Humanity and at the Aries Full Moon, He links us to our Father in Heaven. One great Teacher Torkom Saraydarian says that ” Resurrection cannot be understood unless we have the experience of resurrection and its freedom, joy, beauty and power”

The greatest gift from Christ to humanity is the concept of resurrection. The most outstanding point in the life of Christ is His resurrection. Resurrection is an experience of increasing life and livingness. The whole Christian Church celebrates the resurrection of the Christ Spirit. Resurrection is a steady progress in freedom from the pull of lower forces.

It is said that the new world religion in the Aquarian age we just entered will be based upon the principle of Resurrection. Resurrection is a process of conscious detachment of the Self from the not-self. Resurrection is a consciously applied technique of liberating ourselves from the dark urges and drives that constitute physical limitations as well as to resurrect from the negative emotions of fear, hatred, greed, glamors, etc. of the Astral plane and the mental plane traps of illusions, vanities, pride selfishness and separativeness.

We are told that when Christ reappears among men the goal of all the religious teaching in the world will be the resurrection of the spirit in mankind:”…the emphasis will be upon the livingness of the Christ nature in every human being, and upon the use of the will in bringing about this living transfiguration of the lower nature. The proof of it will be the risen Christ” (Reappearance of the Christ #30)

Christians are very limited in their ideas about the Christ, and they think Christ belongs only to Christianity. This is not the attitude of the Ageless Wisdom. Christ belongs to all Humanity, to all religions, for we all carry the Christ principle within us. It has been emphasised that the Christ of history and the Christ or Soul in the human heart are planetary facts to be grasped and understood.

There is the need nowadays for evolving human beings to connect with the energies generated by the lunation cycle to give us a sense of direction and synergy with the rhythm of the Earth, the Moon and the Sun and the other planets of our cosmos. While a New Moon is a time to plant and to set intentions for the future and to launch new projects, the Full Moon is the time of fruition and culmination and reaping of what was sown at the New Moon. This is the lunation cycle and there are twelve sets of new and full moons in a year forming the twelve spiritual festivals.

Twelve Festivals

The twelve full moons in a year form twelve Spiritual Festivals for the progress of mankind. Each is uniquely conditioned by the combination of astrological energies flowing through the cosmos. While astrology is not the basis of the full moon meditation work, it is helpful to be aware of the spiritual qualities, opportunities and challenges brought to human consciousness by the subtle influences of the stars and planets during each festival.

Three Spiritual Festivals

Of all the twelve full moons of the year there are three which are of greatest spiritual importance, concentrated in three consecutive months and leading, therefore, to a prolonged annual spiritual effort which will affect the remainder of the year:

The Festival of Easter – the full moon of Aries.

The Wesak Festival – the full moon of Taurus.

The Festival of Goodwill – the full moon of Gemini.

The Festival of Easter is determined by the Full Moon occurring in the Zodiacal division of Aries, the first full moon after the Spring Equinox, often in April. The Wesak Festival occurs at the full moon of Taurus in May, and the Festival of Humanity takes place one month later in June, at the full moon of Gemini. These three Festivals–of Easter, of Wesak and of Humanity–are the three major spiritual events of the year of especial importance.

Meditation at the Full Moon

The time of the full moon is a period when spiritual energies are uniquely available,

facilitating a closer rapport between humanity and the planetary Hierarchy of Liberated Souls

Energies of light and love and the will-to-good are always available to those who can contact them through prayer and meditation. But in all aspects of our planetary life there are cycles in the ebb and flow of spiritual energies with which groups, as well as individuals, can consciously cooperate. One of the major energy cycles coincides with the phases of the moon, reaching its peak, its high tide, at the time of the full moon. This is a time, therefore, when the invocation and radiation of energy through group meditation can be uniquely effective. The moon itself has no influence on the work; but the fully-lighted orb of the moon indicates a free and unimpeded alignment between our planet and the sun, the solar centre, the energy source for all life on Earth. At such times we can make a definite approach to God, the Creator, the centre of life and intelligence.

Aries, First of Three Spiritual Festivals

It is the beginning of the spiritual new year once again, when the cycle renews itself in Aries – heralding the first of the three annual spiritual festivals – Aries, Taurus and Gemini. These signs establish an aspect of the annually amended Planetary Plan, the Divine Blueprint that is constantly precipitating into human consciousness. Aries’ theme is about the emergence of the subjective, subtle idea – patterned and programmed in the ethers, that will eventually manifest upon the outer plane: “Aries is the place where the initial idea to institute activity takes form. It is the birthplace of ideas, and a true idea is in reality a spiritual impulse taking form—subjective and objective.”

When the life is self-centered and personality gain is the goal, the keynote of Aries is: ‘Let form be sought.’ For the Soul the voice proclaims: ‘I come forth from the plane of mind, I rule.’

When the Sun enters the energy field of Aries, there is a perfect sync between Aries, the Sun, Mars, Mercury, Uranus and our Earth. This presents an electrical conduit through which the energy of Aries is transmitted to all the seven kingdoms of our planetary system. The energy of Aries is fiery and it charges and stimulates the Spark in every form and causes them to advance and progress. Resurrection is progressive advancement of the Spark or Spirit to conquer matter, to conquer the body, the emotions and mind and eventually to conquer space and time

These first three signs of Aries, Taurus and Gemini function as a triangle of subjective energies that condition the remainder of the year. Hence, tuning into their qualities through personal reflection, group meditation and service will reward the seeker.

Aries – Easter Festival, the Festival of the Risen Christ or of Resurrection

Taurus – Wesak Festival, the Festival of the Buddha or of Illumination.

Gemini – Festival of Unification – unifying East-West, carried forward by the Christ.

That which is initiated in Aries, finds its consequence or result in polar opposite sign Libra. Here is the law of cause and effect – or karma, hence the reason for the exaltation of Saturn the Lord of Karma, in Libra. Therefore, the importance of making sure that ideas bought forth and projected in Aries, have a clear and well defined outline – so that they will have an accurate manifestation in Libra.

One way to work with the subjective energies of Aries – to initiate new, dynamic activity, is to work in group meditation focused upon a particular theme of World Service. Here, templates can be built upon the mental plane, or existing ones can be embellished, consolidated, refined and expanded. In this era of planetary emergency, any one of the areas represented by the so-called ten seed groups – might be a place to start.

Easter Festival – Aries Full Moon…28 March 2021

EQUINOX 2021 – Sun is with Venus & Chiron

The Equinox is the beginning of our true New Year, as we begin the twelve-fold process of the Zodiac round and the Equinox chart becomes the chart for the WHOLE YEAR ahead!

In Equinox 2021 the Sun is with Venus, Goddess of Love exalted in Pisces and thus the primary creative drive for the year requires compassionate service to support humanitarian reforms & social justice and change.

We have the Sun and Venus conjunction from the Aries ingress or Equinox, applying to a sextile with Saturn, giving a greater stability to the social reforms and financial interests, while also suggesting restraint and the steady application of diplomacy (Saturn in Aquarius) over overt warfare or conflict (Mars/NN in Gemini). Also, a sense of duty dominates the heart and the need to make sacrifices, for harmony and for relationships to work.

March 20 is the Spring Equinox when the SUN enters Aries at 2:37 am PDT/ 5:37 am EDT/9:37 am GMT. This indeed begins the REAL NEW YEAR. The new natural year based on the Sun and Earth alignment begins and it’s also called the International ASTROLOGY DAY.

The New Year is supported with both Jupiter and Saturn in Aquarius – the sign of revolution and social change. Indeed, Jupiter with Saturn, heavyweights of our solar system placed in Aquarius offers huge power to expand human rights and promote equal rights. We expect to see the growth of grass roots movements to challenge elite systems as the year unfold. Both heavyweights placed in Aquarius also means a year of big moves in technology innovations and advances through a beneficial aspect to Mars, Warrior and drive planet, ruler of Aries.

The good news is that the COVID-19 crisis will end this year though there may be some spikes and the bad news is that the Aftermath of COVID-19 will begin. On the plus side, however, the Sun is conjunct Venus, which in mundane charts represents Women. We may thus expect Women demand equality or they rise to prominence in public life, achieving great things in government and politics and perhaps playing some role in bringing Covid-19 to an end. Equinox 2021 promises a challenging year for Feminism with Venus and Sun conjoining with Chiron in fire-fighting Aries, women’s issues will figure prominently in the healing social reforms demanded in our world. Chiron is the planetoid of the healer-redeemer placed between Saturn and Uranus, between Heaven (Transcendence) and Earth (Saturn). He was a teacher of the path of the hero, the path of how to overcome weaknesses and turn them into virtues. Chiron is known as the Wounded Healer that help cross the Rainbow bridge. Its energy represents the process of awakening to a higher call. As we awaken, we are able to take our wounds and turn them into powerful portals of strength, wisdom, and compassion. When we channel Chiron’s energy, we are also able to walk the bridge into higher states of consciousness.

The Full Moon at 8+ Libra. Bridge Over Troubled Waters

As we roll into the new Aquarian age, our first Full Moon of the natural or Astrological year is the Full Moon in Libra, reflecting the LIGHT of the Sun in Aries, and marking the FIRST of three Powerful Full Moons of the year. It is a rare and unique Full Moon as it features the Sun and Venus conjunct Chiron, the Healer, all in Aries. On March 28 the Sun and Venus conjunct Chiron in Aries at 8+ degrees on the Libra Full Moon, highlighting the Aries/Libra polarity. The full moon at 8+ Libra is projected as a powerful healing and balancing time in our lives on this planet at this time.

The full moon at 8’18 libra is exact on Sunday March 28th, 2021 marking the midway point of the lunar cycle that began with the powerful new moon in Pisces conjunct Venus and Neptune on March 13th. Venus/Neptune conjunction is the expansive open heart that gives and gives- unconditional love with no boundaries, that can take on other’s pain and heal and transform all.

Full Moon in Libra- Rebalancing the Scales of yin and yang

With Pisces and Libra in focus- the sign of Venus’ exaltation and the sign of her rulership- there is focus on the heart, relationships and partnerships, love and compassion. Pisces is the omega sign and Aries is the alpha, they are the penultimate yin and yang. Expressing too much yin and we have no boundaries and with too much yang we are too fiery, aggressive, combative and self-centered. Ultimately the call in this lunar cycle is for Balance and learning to Compromise with life. Rebalancing of the scales and living with an open heart with healthy boundaries is the key as we enter the new Aquarian Age.

This Full Moon of Sun/Venus/Chiron in Aries and Moon in Libra offers potential for healing on multiple levels. This full moon of Aries in Libra, marking the Festival of Easter brings a massive downpour of spiritual healing energy on mankind. This energy brings opportunities to spiritual seekers and servers of the race for purifying themselves, blessing their family and loved ones, and helping the world move on to a higher ground.

The Great Invocation

As the spiritual evolution of the Earth is accelerating, so are the physical changes. There is hardly a week going by without the news of another natural disaster as well as acts of terrorism, crime, military conflicts, poverty etc. At this time Mother Earth needs tremendous amount of blessings, healing and protection. The Great Invocation, recited with humility and reverence, releases and harmonizes the Light, Love and Will aspect of God manifested through Humanity. The Great Invocation has enormous healing and protection power. It is one of the most effective ways to harmonize and re-orient humanity toward Unconditional Love, Intelligent Mind and Common Goals of spiritual evolution according to the Divine Plan.

The “Great Invocation”, as it is called, was made available for our use in 1945, even as the Lord’s Prayer was, two thousand years ago. This great and potent mantram is especially keyed to the New Age and is used by countless men and women of goodwill in all parts of the world. It provides an essential means of service both to mankind and to the planet as a whole. It is said that no one can use this prayer for illumination and love without causing powerful changes in their attitudes, and that its widespread use could bring about changed conditions in world affairs overnight if used rightly with purpose and heartfelt intent.

All of us can use it, but like the Lord’s Prayer, or any other mantram, it requires understanding if it is to be used effectively. Let us reflect on it together and see if we can reach an understanding of its purpose and the underlying meaning of the phrases. It is as well to have a few moments of silent preparation before saying the Invocation, giving time to relax and draw in to a central point of stillness, forgetting all preoccupations and problems. It should be said slow enough to follow the words with heart, mind and will, at the same time feeling and knowing exactly what we are doing. Between each verse or stanza there should be a silent pause in order to realise the qualities and effects of the energies invoked

Let us start with the first stanza: *

“From the point of Light within the Mind of God,

Let light stream forth into the minds of men.

Let Light descend on Earth.”

* The traditional, or original text of the Great Invocation is given here. A new version with a more inclusive translation, in popular use today, is also available.

This first stanza is fairly simple and offers an opportunity for visualisation. We can endeavour to visualise a beam or ray of light, vivid and brilliant, pouring down from on high, into the minds of men, bringing illumination, enlightenment and understanding. We can feel this flowing through or entering into our personalities, for how else can light “descend on earth”? As this happens, we may experience a sense of inner joy for this is the effect of light; it illumines, enlightens and releases the hold of the material world.

Let us now take the second stanza:

“From the point of Love within the Heart of God,

Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.

May Christ* return to Earth.”

*The point of Love is the World Teacher, it matters not by what name He is called, as in different faiths and traditions, such as The Christ, the Lord Maitreya, the Imam Mahdi and the Messiah.

The Heart of God is the Company of Heaven, the Kingdom of Souls, known to some as the Spiritual Hierarchy of Masters. This Kingdom, is that spoken of by Our Lord many times in the Scriptures and is symbolic of the very Heart Centre of God, which embodies the love aspect of our planetary Logos.

The Christ is the central Point within this great Centre of Love; we should, therefore, open our hearts to this energy of divine love as it pours out into the hearts of mankind. His return may be far closer already than we are aware of, pervading mankind’s thinking and “overshadowing” human life. It is in the realms of thought and of feeling that we must first prepare for a new revelation and invoke the Christ Spirit to enter more fully into our hearts and minds; so this phrase does not necessarily mean that we should expect Christ’s physical appearance yet. It depends upon man’s response to the inflowing energies of the New Age. When the necessary preparations have gone forward, it will mean the emergence of the whole Kingdom of Souls on Earth.

Let us continue with the third stanza:

“From the centre where the Will of God is known,

Let purpose guide the little wills of men —

The purpose which the Masters know and serve”.

We can effectively invoke the divine Will without knowing exactly what this is. As we say the words: “Let purpose guide the little wills of men”, we can imagine mankind working in conformity with the overall purpose, thus coming under the divine law of Love and Grace. The word “Masters” refers to the Great Ones, Hierarchy or Ascended Ones (as above), the Company of Angels or Community of Saints, who, throughout the ages, have served and sacrificed their human wills to the greater Will, in the service of God and mankind. It means attuning the personal will — “Thy Will be done Lord, not mine” — with the divine Will that we too “may be about Our Father’s business”.

Let us now take the fourth stanza:

“From the centre which we call the race of men

Let the Plan of Love and Light work out

And may it seal the door where evil dwells”.

In this concluding stanza, mankind, the “race of men”, relates to the Kingdom of Souls and we can “hold in the light” any situation needing help by visualizing the three streams of energies invoked creating lines of lighted relationship amongst men and nations. We may not know what the divine Plan is but we can intuitively recognise that it exists and determine to play our part in its manifestation.

The phrase “seal the door where evil dwells” is very often misunderstood and queried. The explanation of this line lies in the fact that it is the responsibility of humanity to close that door, symbolically speaking, to the entire past and give it no entry into the present and future. Let us remember that there is no evil, except that which man allows.

The method is to be so focused on the light and love and power, which is being invoked, that there is no room or opportunity for that door to remain open into the past, so that no evil can seep through bringing into the future that which must be left behind. When our lives are so filled with the joy of light and love, the door becomes automatically closed, and evil ceases to have power and the light, love and power of the Great Invocation holds sway.

We come now to the final line which should be said as an act of will – a clear cut voiced appeal and demand for restoration:

“Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.”

This line suggests that there has been conflict in the working out of the evolutionary Plan. When man reaches the stage of living by spiritual laws and principles, then the divine Plan will be “restored on Earth”. Let us know that this is so.

Finally, it is good to set the seal by concluding with the affirmation:

“So let it be, and help us to play our part in co-operating for world renewal.

We give thanks for all that we have received”.

Let us now say the Great Invocation together, realizing that we are centres of light and love, for both receiving and transmitting these energies:

THE GREAT INVOCATION

From the point of Light within the Mind of God,

Let light stream forth into the minds of all.

Let Light descend on Earth.

PAUSE

From the point of Love with the Heart of God,

Let love stream forth into the hearts of all

May Christ* return to Earth.

PAUSE

From the centre where the Will of God is known,

Let purpose guide the little wills of all —

The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

PAUSE

From the centre which we call the Humanity,

Let the Plan of Light and Love work out

And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

PAUSE

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

OM      OM      OM

Ase O

“So let it be and help us to play our part.

We give thanks for all that we have received”.

* You may prefer to substitute with “The Coming One” or the Deity that you recognise as embodying the Heart of God for Christ. When you see the title “The Christ” if you are so inclined please substitute “World Teacher,” “Bodhisattva,” “Imam Madhi,” “Krishna,” “Kristos,” “Avalokiteshvara,” “Maitreya,” “Messiah,” or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And you can also substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” if you are so inclined according to your faith.
