We live and move and have our being in a sea of subtle light energies. Like the surfer riding the waves of the sea we can become conscious of these subtle energies that surround us and learn to use them for our evolutionary growth in consciousness. The light emitted from each individual being forms the “aura” and is derived from the body’s seven chakras energy system which energize all human beings; the state of our chakras or energy centers relate to our state of health and well-being. Ancient cultures and systems (Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks, etc.) of healing recognised and understood that we live in a vast sea of energy. They understood that the planets and stars are superconscious energy beings who communicate and inter-relate with each other in the cosmos. It is of major interest for us to know something about the energies and forces which are producing the present international situation and presenting the complex problems with which we are faced and with which the United Nations are confronted. Astrology offers a key to read the events of the world and correlate them with the planets in the heavens and thereby understand their relationships in a proper perspective. Astrology is founded on the principle of ‘as above, so below’, and by tuning in to the cosmic sky, we are led to a greater understanding of ourselves and of our world. While the planets in the heavens are not responsible for causing world events, they can act as a mirror and can help guide us to understand what is happening on a deeper level in our own lives and on the planet.
ASTROLOGY & THE QUEST FOR SELF-DISCOVERY
As an extremely potent tool for self-discovery and all sorts of predictions, it has developed in many different directions over time, to meet different needs of mankind. Basic division of astrology will place Modern Astrology to the Western hemisphere, and call it Western Astrology, while the East will be linked mostly to Vedic, or Indian Astrology and also Chinese Astrology. Astrology has been everything from an electional tool for the kings, to a beam of hope for those in need of directions in life’s journey. Western astrology has traditionally been divided into four major branches since the early Middle Ages. It is from these four branches that all other applications and subsets of western astrology are derived.
The four major branches of western astrology include Mundane astrology, Electional astrology, Natal astrology and Horary astrology.Medical astrology can be regarded as a subset of Natal astrology. The use in medicine of stars (the 12 signs of the zodiac) and of the sun, moon and planets is an ancient practice that date way back into Babylonian times of ancient Mesopotamia (from about 3000 BC). However, the practice reached its epitome in Europe in the late medieval (1450+ AD) and early modern periods (1700 AD). During this period, medical practitioners regarded different signs of the zodiac and planets as having governance over different parts of the body, as controlling different diseases, and as affecting the usefulness of different drugs.
For example, to be effective, plants and herbs had to be collected during the times in which their associated planets were visible. These times were calculated from an almanac in which the rising and setting times of planets were given. To gather the medicinal plants and herbs at any other times would prevent them from being effective.
Other treatments besides herbal remedies were also thought to be governed by astrological signs. For example, bleeding, a common medical procedure until the early 19th century, was considered most effective when the moon was in a particular constellation.
Natal astrology has evolved to present day Humanistic astrology. Whilst Humanistic Astrology does not use the alignments of the planets in their signs to predict the future, they use astrology to give clues as to the energy around us and how we can best work with what is unfolding on our planet Earth. If you are wondering what the cosmic skies are showing and how you can best use this energy, you can go to our site www.cosmostotalhealth.com. Our approach is based on the Humanistic and intuitive approach to astrology.
Humanistic astrology provides a base from which to reject fatalism in astrology, in humanistic terms it is the individual who determines the course of his/her life not God, fate, destiny. Michael Meyer in Humanistic Astrology Revisited outlines :“From the approach of an authentic humanist astrology, the birth-chart and its progressions and transits do not show what will occur in terms of specific future events, but rather it symbolises the process through which one may effectively, consciously and creatively participate in a gradual and orderly actualization of one’s birth potential and unique life purposes.”
The practice of Astrology predates the practice of so-called modern materialistic medicine and has undergone many transformations. Astrology originated in Babylon far back in antiquity, with the Babylonians developing their own form of horoscopes around 2,400 years ago. Then around 2,100 years ago, astrology spread to the eastern Mediterranean from the ancient Greeks, becoming popular in Egypt, which at the time was under the control of a dynasty of Greek kings. By the 13th century, astrology was part of everyday medical practice in Europe. By the end of the 1500s, physicians were required by law to calculate the position of the Moon before carrying out complicated medical procedures, such as surgery or bleeding. In those times you could not practice Medicine if you did not study Astrology. After 1700, astrology lost the respect it once commanded in medical circles. But the belief that the heavens influenced bodily health persisted – even in learned medicine – until well into the nineteenth century.
In astrology, every moment matters. The cosmic clock ticking, as planets (and luminaries) pursue their motion and form celestial patterns, provides a flavor, a meaning, or a message for each passing minute or for a whole epoch. We ourselves are the embodiment of the moment of our birth; as such, each one of us represents a moment in time; we are beings of light and are each fraction of unfolding time. Planetary energies and other outside forces will always affect humanity. Most important is how we collectively and individually respond to these influences that counts, now is not the time for fear and panic although things appear hopeless now. We can triumph if we know ourselves and know how to surf the cosmic waves of time.
“Know thyself, and thou shalt know the universe and God.” ― Temple of Apollo at Delphi
The statement, ‘Man know thyself’ is attributed to Socrates, an Athenian moral philosopher. Socrates (c. 470 – 399 BC) was a Greek philosopher from Athens who is credited as one of the founders of Western philosophy, and as being the first moral philosopher of the Western ethical tradition of thought. The basic explanation for the term ‘man know thyself’ is that knowledge of one self-leads to a possible mastery of self and a development of self for the benefit of self, others and the society at large. The phrase “Know thyself” was not invented by Socrates. It was a motto inscribed on the frontispiece of the Temple of healing in Delphi. This assertion, imperative in the form, indicates that man must stand and live according to his nature.
Aristotle (384–322 BC) was another Greek philosopher during the Classical period in Ancient Greece. Taught by Plato, he was the founder of the Lyceum said “knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.”It starts with you, but if you refuse to look into the mirror then you might as well take your hopes and dreams that you have for your business, and put them through the shredder.
“Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power.” ~Lao Tzu
In the light of Humanistic astrology, transiting planetary energies may change one person’s life forever and leave another’s untouched, not because one was unlucky or fortunate, cursed or blessed, but because each individual by their very nature, experiences the energies as only they can. As only they must.
Astrology is the master tool for understanding ourselves and our world!
A rare Cancer Solar Eclipse occurred recently this year on June 20/21. It was a rare Annular Solar Eclipse exact on June 21 @ 6:41 am GMT and it occurred on the summer solstice. The solstice and equinoxes are the 4 major “World Points” which marks the ingress of every season on our planet Earth. The 0 degrees Point of Cardinal Cancer marks the beginning of SUMMER in the Northern Hemisphere at the SUMMER SOLSTICE. The only other time an annular solar eclipse coincides with the June Solstice in this Century is on June 21, 2039. This 2020 Cancer Solar Eclipse on the solstice is therefore a rare synchronicity. If your birthday is June 19-24 you will be affected the most as well as anyone born in the last days of SAGITTARIUS (Nov-Dec), first few days of CAPRICORN and the last few days of PISCES (March-April), first few days of ARIES and the last few days of VIRGO and first few days of LIBRA (Sept/Oct). You may be challenged to Reset, Reboot and Realign your life.(Please go to: http://www.cosmostotalhealth.org/2020/03/15/2020-reset-reboot-re-align-your-life/)
Having this Eclipse on one of the World Axis proffers a huge influx of energies into our planetary system. The World Axis includes the 4 cardinal points of 0 Aries (21 March), 0 Cancer (22 June), 0 Libra (23 September) and 0 Capricorn 22 Dec,). In tropical astrology when the Sun transits these degrees, we have the spring Equinox (celebrated as Easter by Christians in the West), Summer Solstice, Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice respectively (In the Southern Hemisphere 0 Aries is Fall, 0 Cancer is Winter, 0 Libra is Spring and 0 Capricorn is Summer). The World Axis degrees when stimulated always correspond to highly visible world events and are extra potent pointers to world developments. The Corona virus was declared a pandemic on March 11, 2020 – WHO declared a coronavirus pandemic, ten days before the Spring Equinox and by the Summer Solstice which featured a Solar eclipse the invasion was widespread and global.
THE LUNATION CYCLE
All eclipses occur at new or full moons following the monthly lunation cycle. The monthly lunation cycle extends from one New Moon to the next covering about twenty-eight days, reaching an apex or turning point at the Full Moon. It is the cycle of the constantly changing relationship between the solar and lunar forces which affect the earth and the “earthly” nature of every human being and all that lives. This cyclic relationship generates tremendous electromagnetic waves of energies and is the foundation and the very substance of what we generally call “life”. There is much stimulation at full moon periods on our psychological states, hence the word ‘lunatic’ for some humans who behave strangely during these periods. Also, at these times occur earth quakes, thunderstorms, tidal waves etc. People have observed for centuries that during certain phases of the Moon, seeds would germinate faster, plants would grow taller, animals become restless at full moons and some of their neighbors would act very strangely.
All Solar Eclipses focus on outward visible, conscious expression. A Solar Eclipse occurs only on a NEW MOON when the SUN and MOON are aligned together and the Moon, the Divine Feminine overshadows and blocks out or mates with the Sun, the Divine Masculine. Our normal daylight consciousness is blacked out for the duration of the eclipse and it is a collective emotional reset button for collective conscious energies.
An eclipse is a temporary interruption of universal energy between the Sun, Moon, and Earth, and during this period, we may also notice an abrupt halt of energy happening in our own lives. This temporary seizure offers us the opportunity to gain perspective on where we are at and where we want to be heading, before pressing reset and clearing the karma to everything we have previously gone through. An eclipse may change one person’s life forever and leave another’s untouched, not because one was unlucky or fortunate, cursed or blessed, but because each individual by their very nature experiences the energies of an eclipse as only they can; as only they must; it’s a question of individual sensitivity.
Eclipses – Times of Change. Time for Change
The Lunation cycle occurs every month but an eclipse is a far more potent lunation as it aligns with the nodal axis of the Moon also. An eclipse season occurs while the Sun is within eighteen degrees of one of the Moon’s Nodes, that is the points on the Moon’s orbital path where it crosses the path of the Sun. Eclipse seasons arise every six months and usually comes in pairs.
Many ancient people tend to fear eclipses, simply because they often bring about a crisis of sorts that leads to a significant event or an unexpected change. Their kings or queens may pass away or wars and conflicts arise or earthquakes or some other phenomena may erupt. However, these events can be positive as they may elicit evolutionary change, for eclipses are tied to changing circumstances. However, we are usually the ones to precipitate or to attract changes because our “inner guides” know that we need it. Human beings are progressive by nature, and although we might stay in situations that are making us miserable for longer than we should, deep down inside we know that change is necessary for growth; the Universe gives us a break during eclipse times; it’s Time of change; it’s time for change!
The word ECLIPSE comes from the Greek word “ekleipsis” meaning “to abandon, to leave, to vanish” – and that’s exactly what we may experience during either a Solar or Lunar Eclipse – the desire to surrender and let go of parts of our self that limit our greater potential is urgent during this period. Solar Eclipses are powerful by themselves. Solstices (and Equinoxes) are also powerful points of energy by themselves in our planetary etheric body. But when these two events occur at the same time as they do in this 2020 solstice point, they build on each other and their influence is amplified by an order of magnitude. Undoubtedly, the Solar Eclipse on June 21st is one of the most powerful eclipses of this third decade of the 21st. century. This Solar Eclipse is an Annular eclipse with deep implications for all nations and all people. Eclipses usually come in sets of two, but this year they come in a set of three, so this is the second of these three consecutive eclipses which continue to precipitate life-changing shifts in consciousness worldwide. The last solar eclipse of the second decade of this 21st century occurred on 25 Dec. 2019 and it ushered in the Corona virus COVID-19; it was the Christmas Day (Boxing Day) eclipse; Covid-19 was first diagnosed on December 1, 2019 when transiting Sun was conjunct fixed star Antares in the Heart of the Scorpion which causes fevers and sickness. This solar Eclipse on the solstice was tied with the awakening masses’ uprising to suppressive government structures. The effects of these eclipses can be felt up to six months after the actual date of the eclipse providing time for change.
How do Eclipses work? The 2020 Season of Eclipses
Eclipses are super New or Full Moons; a Solar Eclipse is a supercharged New moon whilst a Lunar Eclipse is a supercharged Full Moon. Eclipses can put us back on track of our destiny, if we have gone off track. They do this in two ways: either through creating new opportunities (North Node eclipses) or by “digesting” past experiences (South Node eclipses). The recent Solar Eclipse in Cancer was a North Node eclipse – so it comes with opportunities for transitions and evolutionary growth. This was the last solar eclipse on the Cancer/Capricorn axis for the next nine years and being on the zero-degree Cancer it symbolises the birth of a new consciousness as people are awakening to new realties due to increasing pressure and social and environmental issues caused by Covid-19 lockdowns. The COVID -19 lockdown challenges have succeeded in awakening us to new realities. The major outstanding theme of 2020 can be said to be the Corona virus-COVID-19- pandemic saga. 2020 is a spectacular year that marks the dawn of a new era in the evolutionary development of mankind. 2020 is more about finding a new order, rather than clinging to outdated models of being. 2020 is when we will finally break old patterns that no longer sustain our growth as evolving beings of light and love on our planet.
The Goodwill penumbral lunar eclipse in Sagittarius occurred on June 5th at 19:12pm UT with the Sun in Gemini. This eclipse ushered us into the second eclipse season of 2020. This eclipse season came bearing three eclipses in a row (instead of the usual 2); one on June 5th, one on June 21st, and one on July 5th. Eclipse Season reveals what is usually relegated to the shadows. It is a time for purging toxins. It signals moments of important change and can be highly transformative. Eclipses reveal what we need to heal within ourselves. Highly transformative, if we take it up on its offer, Eclipse Season marks a time where we renew our relationship to our life’s purpose. It marks a moment where we gain clarity about what we need to put a stop to and where we need to go. These eclipses in particular demand our finest efforts, making clear the conflict we have to work through. They encourage us to purge the emotional, psychological, and interpersonal toxins from our lives.
Humanity is facing a global health crisis unlike any in the 75-year history of the United Nations — one that is killing people, spreading human suffering, and upending people’s lives. But this is much more than a health crisis. It is a human, economic and social crisis. The coronavirus disease (COVID-19), which has been characterized as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), is attacking societies at their core at various levels. But the crises offer opportunity for growth. The Universe offers us the opportunity this year of 2020 to REBOOT or RESET and RESTORE what has been taken from us. We’ve all been on retreat for several weeks and as we emerge, we are faced with much self-questioning. Who are we? Who will we be when we go back out – or emerge – and what will we see? The question is, what have we discovered after the lockdown? Will we see with new eyes? What will come of our world? As we emerge from the lockdown, we are confronted with negativities that have been repressed, we face our fears, resentments, hatreds, and are confronted with illusions and delusions. Racism stems from fear and separation of someone who we perceive as different, as other. We objectify and try to dominate what we fear. Right relationship issues become paramount socially and culturally.
Astrology tells us that this is a very important period in human history because of this Coronavirus invasion. Astrologers worldwide agree on the correlation between the conjunction of the planets Saturn and Pluto that occur every 33 years or so with the Covid-19 saga. Saturn is said to be the planet of Karma or dharma and Pluto is the planet of Death and destruction and is the Lord of Transformations. Any time they come together humanity is faced with some crisis. For instance, World War 1 coincided with the Saturn/Pluto conjunction in 1914 and the World Trade Center attacks took place during the last Saturn-Pluto opposition in 2001. When Saturn and Pluto come together, it is a serious time indeed. We will be unable to avoid the fact that some things in our lives are no longer working, are worn out and are ready to pass. As Saturn dances with Pluto, life situations will arise throughout the next several months to show us what needs to be cleared out of the way so that we can pursue our goals from a place of love, wisdom, strength and understanding.
Covid-19 has brought about deaths but also opportunity for rebirth; major transformation can take place through deep purging from this Corona virus lockdown. In these times we can welcome the death of an old life, an old identity, an old way of being and doing things in this world. Now is not the time to fear and lose hope. It’s an opportunity for us to take a leap of faith into the unknown. Now is the time to reinvent our self and the life we desire to live. Whatever is weighing you down or holding you back often is rooted in the past. So, now is an opportunity to let go of the weight of the past and everything else you don’t want in your life anymore. This can be people, relationships, jobs, careers, friends, material items, habits, routines, and even your state of mind. What have you been struggling with for way too long? What have you not been able to let go of? Together we have an opportunity to collectively do our work and create this new world we desire grounded in Love and Light. Indeed, Astrology does give meaning to our lives and is the master tool for understanding ourselves and the world we live in.
2020 is set to be a most extraordinary year…. It’s time for positive change!
If your health or career or finances or relationships have been going in the wrong direction or has been suffering a downturn, the Universe offers you the opportunity this year of 2020 to REBOOT or RESET and RESTORE what has been taken from you.2020 is the year of change we all need; for it is said that change is a constant of life. You can begin to REBOOT, RESET, REALIGN by RELEASE of all undesirable thoughts, emotions, attitudes that may be blocking you. The Saturn/ Pluto conjunct their respective south nodes encourage us to release and restructure our lives. But lucky Jupiter comes along to conjunct lunar South Node, helping us in this process of Release by giving us a higher vision or far-sightedness on what needs to be done. The leap year 2020 promises to be a turning point in our history if only we desire to upgrade our lives and live to the higher vision. When we look back at the period following 2020, we may find ourselves dividing the times between life before 2020 and life after 2020, if only we take the right steps.
