Taurus Keynote: “I see and when the Eye is opened, all is light.”

(Full Moon: May 18, 2019. 21.11 pm UT)

May is the month in which the World celebrates the Motherly love of God in all its human expressions. Mother’s Day celebrated on the second Sunday in the month of May this year falls on 12th May 2019. Mother’s Day is devoted to appreciating all mothers around the globe. It is when we appreciate the tremendous power of love, understanding, guidance and creative energy of the motherly love of God.  In the month of May, divine love ripples thru the month and we also celebrate the second major World Festival after the Resurrection Festival of the Easter, we celebrate the festival of Enlightenment of the Buddha, the Wesak/Vaiseka Festival. Lord Gautama Buddha the founder of Buddhism is regarded as the expression of the Wisdom and Compassion of God, expressing the compassionate mother side of God, the divine love that never fails to help man from darkness (ignorance) into light and from suffering and bondage to the joy of freedom. It is love that heals and preserves us, prospers, attracts and makes real the good, the beautiful and the true in our lives. Divine love is the greatest power for good, progress, protection and prosperity for all humanity. The teachings of great minds such as the Buddha and the Christ encourage us to become channels thru which Divine love flows. The philosophy of life enunciated by Lord Buddha which swayed the world for many centuries outlined very succinctly the way of Freedom thru enlightenment, thru being ”awake” to our responsibilities as evolving human beings.

May is also the month we celebrate Africa Day. African Unity Day, also known as Africa Day is celebrated annually on 25 May of every year. Africa Day (formerly African Freedom Day and African Liberation Day) is the annual commemoration of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) (now known as the African Union) on 25 May 1963. It is celebrated in various countries on the African continent, as well as around the world.  The purpose of the Africa Day was to annually mark the continent’s liberation movement’s progress and to symbolize the determination of the people of Africa to free themselves from foreign domination and exploitation.   The celebrations highlight African solidarity, unity in diversity, creativity, challenges and successes, and the cultural and economic potential of our continent, Africa.

The three Major World Spiritual festivals are celebrated at the three Full Moons of Spring or the first quarter of the spiritual year which starts at the first degree of Aries, the very first sign of the zodiac or the Vernal Equinox. The Full Moon of Aries is the festival of Easter, the festival of Resurrection and of the living Way into the Father’s House which Christ showed us. The Full Moon of Taurus is the festival of Wesak, the festival of Enlightenment of the Buddha. The Full Moon of Gemini is the festival of Goodwill and of Humanity. The three Festivals thus link the three major planetary centers viz: the Planetary Head, Heart and Ajna chakras. The entire theme of these three Full Moons is Communication and Right Relationships involving the free flow of energies between the three major centers of the planet and  in the human being . But in 2019 we receive a double dose of Aries energies as we witness two Full moons in Aries. Full moons are times of maximum download of energies into our planetary etheric energy body.

Festival of Easter & Resurrection………..19 April 2019

Festival of Wesak & Enlightenment……..18 May 2019

Festival of Humanity ………………………..17 June 2019

The three major cosmic energies of power, love and wisdom are circulated in and thru the three planetary centers as well as thru the three aspects of Man; the trinity of body, soul and spirit via the three planetary centers.

The three high spiritual full moons of the year sets the tone for the other nine lunations which follow them just as the numerical vibration of a year sets the theme for the whole year. The numerical vibration for 2019 (2+0+1+9=12/3) is 3. 3 is the number of the Trinity of all religions and combines the qualities of 1 and 2 promising productivity and prosperity to all who deserve them; for 1(Father/Sun) and the 2(Mother/Moon) combine to produce 3(Son/Jupiter-Mercury), the Christed Soul or one who has attained Buddhahood or spiritual consciousness.

Whilst Easter, the Festival of Power and of Resurrection reminds us that life continually brings opportunity for renewal and that bleakness or darkness is as temporary as the night, the Festival of Enlightenment of the Buddha or the Wesak festival is one that brings wisdom and Illumination  of mankind’s suffering and how to end it.  The Buddha is the Lord of Wisdom, light and love and compassion.

The message of the Buddha offers a Way of Release from endless and needless suffering for all humankind. The Way is to be found in detachment, dispassion and discrimination of the quality of our desires.

Whilst  the message of the Christ  embraces the energy of  love and acquiescent to the Will of God the message of the Buddha lays the necessary foundation of knowledge and practice of regulating our Desire nature, whether Christian, Moslem or Buddhist.

“Three things cannot be hidden: the Moon, the Sun and the Truth.”

~ Gautama Buddha

Buddhism is the world’s fourth-largest religion with over 520 million followers, or over 7% of the global population, known as Buddhists. Buddhism encompasses a variety of traditions, beliefs and spiritual practices largely based on original teachings attributed to Siddhartha Gautama Buddha, the Founder and the resulting interpreted philosophies.

Siddhartha is believed to have been a prince who was born into a wealthy family in what is now called Nepal in the 5th Century BC. It’s believed that Siddhartha Gautama realised that wealth and luxury did not guarantee happiness. So he travelled as a homeless holy man to learn more about the world and saw the suffering in the world.  It’s believed that after many years of studying and meditation on his travels, he became spiritually aware and reached his goal of finding meaning in life. This is called Enlightenment.  At this time, he became the Buddha and for the rest of his life he taught his followers his Realized experiences.  Buddha is a title, rather than a name, which means the Enlightened or Awakened One.

The life of Mahatma Buddha accentuates the qualities of the Taurus/Scorpio polarity of the consciousness of the disciple of freedom. He lived and taught the themes of Desire (Taurus) and its transmutation into spiritual aspiration and freedom (Scorpio). This is the Path of Discipleship whereon one is asked to ‘Kill out Desire’. The Holy Book of the Christians says that among other spiritual qualities to be acquired by the new age disciple is to “put to   death their human nature with all its passions and desires.” Gal 5:22.

Siddhartha Gautama developed from his insight the solution to humanity’s suffering and the way to end all suffering, all anxieties, worries, frustrations, grief, anger, etc. that plague mankind.

What are the three Teachings of Buddha?

Buddhism is a religion that is based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama. The main principles of this belief system are karma, reincarnation, and the impermanence of all things material. Buddhists believe that life is full of suffering due to our own ignorance, but that suffering can be overcome by attaining enlightenment thru living and walking the Middle Way. The Middle Way trod by those who know the Four Noble Truths and walk the Noble Eightfold Path.

Festival of Wesak (Vaiseka)

Vaiseka is the Celebration of Enlightenment and is celebrated once a year. This year, it fell on Saturday 18 May. The date of Vaiseka changes each year as it takes place at the time of the first full moon of the ancient lunar month of Vaiseka, which usually falls in May or early June. Most world religions have their festivals fixed around a soli-lunar cycle, for the ancients recognized the energetic inflow of energies around the times of the full moon when the Moon is illumined fully by the opposite Sun thus energizing their ceremonies.  Siddhartha was born on the full moon of Taurus, achieved illumination at the full moon of Taurus and also passed on at the Taurus full moon.

The central foundation of Buddhism lies in the fact that suffering is the unavoidable consequence of leading a solely ignorant material physical life and existence. All suffering is caused by wrong desires for material things for oneself or of possession of another’s with its attendant repercussions. Thus suffering and sorrow are caused by people’s blind and greedy desire for possessions, pleasure and power over others. Suffering and sorrow will only end when people overcome their greed by walking and living the Noble Eightfold Path of the enlightened Soul. People can overcome their greed and uncontrolled desire by adopting the Middle Way. On the Eightfold Path that leads to Nirvana or what others call Heaven, one attains Buddhahood or Christhood. Buddhahood or Christhood is a state of enlightened spiritual consciousness rather than a mere title.

The Four Noble truths of the Buddha from a healing point of view diagnoses  a world
disease or world problem-the glamour of materialism and power over others. The cause of the problem is revealed as selfish desire for material things and that there is the possibility of a cure by the cessation and extinguishing of selfish desire and this by walking the Eightfold path. The Fourfold Truth is lived on the Eightfold Way.

The sacred Full Moon of WESAK honors the birth, enlightenment-Nirvana and death- of Gautama Buddha, celebrated by Buddhists worldwide. It’s one of the three most auspicious moon of the year. You don’t have to be a Buddhist though to tune into the energy that this potent moon provides every year. Thousands of years of observance has given this particular full moon archetypal energy which anyone can tune into.  Buddhism’s energy of renunciation and of loving kindness and compassion can be lived year long and for some it’s a lifetime celebration.

The Moon is in detriment (form dies) in Scorpio befitting the theme of death and resurrection, letting go of the ego and transmutation of the human desire nature ‘with all its passions and desires‘ from the Taurus energy into Scorpio, the realm of regeneration. The Full Moon is all about letting go from the depths of our souls of the ego’s illusion and attachment to material things. The result of this transmutation is the awakening of spiritual consciousness (Uranus is exalted in Scorpio).

In this year’s Wesak celebration the Moon is not only in its fall but is also in mutual reception with Mars, ruler of Scorpio placed in Cancer, the Moon’s sign. Rather than fight for personal gain and achievement we should fight for our home (Earth) our environment and take those steps that would preserve the endangered species on our home, planet Earth. These dynamics also helps us dominate our lower nature.

An important feature of this regenerative and awakening Full Moon is that Venus is placed in Taurus which she rules in conjunction with freedom-bringer Uranus. Let us note that the Venus conjunction to Uranus is the first of its kind for 81 years. The last time these two met in Taurus was in 1938 though the last time Love Goddess Venus and Revolutionary Uranus were conjunct was in March 2018, and they did so in Aries. Venus conjunct Uranus suggests awakening at the soul or heart level and the possibility of liberation from the heartaches of wrongful desires.  “It’s like a high frequency blast of energy that shakes the bedrock of our lives and shows us what really matters”, Leah Whitehorse of LUA Astrology says.

The lunation of Taurus 2019 also involves beneficially Saturn, the cosmic Cop and Pluto, Lord of the secrets of Death and Resurrection. Saturn and Pluto conjunct the South Node suggest it is time to clean-up our karma. But what is karma? Karma is the law of action and reaction which teaches us to take responsibility of the outcomes of our life and enables us shape our individual characters and our world. You get what you give in life.

“Karma is the law of cause and effect – an unbreakable law of the cosmos. Your actions create your future. The reason your fate is never sealed is because you have free will. Therefore your future cannot already be written. That would not be fair. Life gives you chances. This is one of them.”

– The Tree of Awakening

One thing is certain along this journey of life, and that is we are here to be the loving and kind humans we spiritually are.  We must let go of all negative and unwholesome attitudes and begin to think, speak and act in more harmonious ways. A peaceful accord or living in in harmony with all living beings and things on this our planet is the Middle way to be trod and lived by all.
