The Lunar Eclipse on the 27th July 2018 lasted 1 hour and 43 minutes of totality, and took three hours and 55 minutes from beginning to end. It’s the longest in the 21st century, according to the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). This eclipse is important not only astronomically and astrologically but momentous psychologically and spiritually as well.

The Leo Sun opposes a Moon-Mars conjunction in Aquarius, with all three impacting revolutionary Uranus in Taurus, resolved by the asteroid Chiron in Aries.

This configuration affords the opportunity for global as well as individual transformation. It affords the opportunity to uplift and upgrade our lives though with much WAHALA (troubles), agitation and conflict. 

Old ways of doing things and reacting aren’t going to work anymore. This Full Moon Lunar Eclipse is wired for hair-trigger change, producing startling, surprising, and ultimately awakening us and liberating us into new ways. It’s an opportunity to REBIRTH ourselves!

Eclipses do have profound effects and have been associated with major events in history, marking accelerations of growth in nations as well as in individuals. The nature of an eclipse can sometimes have devastating and transforming effects, depending upon what  aspects in your life need change and this depending on how you have been living your life.

Both solar and lunar eclipses mark turning points in life’s unfoldment. Lunar eclipses traditionally are regarded as an opportunity to recognise and release old emotional patterns that no longer serve; you can dump that demon that has been holding you back.  Hence the need at any full or new moon cycle to take advantage through prayer and meditative practice, individually or in group, to direct the energies rightly – so that one rules these forces of change and is not ruled by them. Chiron  the centaur named after a Greek mythological figure known as the wounded healer indicates that the healing is for the refinement of the masculine energy in us all, men, women and the world at large.  Chiron provides healing energy and being placed in Aries asks us to step up to challenges and tells us that we should grow into independence, self-sufficiency and, ultimately, boldness. Taking the courageous Aries process to an even deeper level, Chiron is placed in the sign of the warrior aspecting positively the lunar Eclipse configuration. Through 2027, many of us will confront and heal old wounds and step forward bravely into new territory.
